FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to submit completed work to apply?
Nope! Deathless Violets will be for new and unpublished work, you do not need to submit completed work for the application, but if you would like to include a WIP with your application if you have something in mind, that is totally ok.

Can I submit/pitch fanart?
This zine will be for original art and work only, not fanart. Taking inspiration from the titles we listed is fine and encouraged but this is not the fan zine for those stories.

Can I submit fanart/fanfiction in my portfolio?
Yes, that's okay. The zine is for original art and characters, but for showing your previous work, that's totally fine.

Is this zine 18+/can I submit 18+ content in my portfolio?
The zine will contain mature themes and imagery, but this will not be a zine with explicit sexual content or realistic gore. We ask to not send explicit sexual content in your application, but some nudity/blood/not realistic gore is okay.
All contributors must be at least 18 years old to participate.

Do I need to be previously published to participate?
No! We just want to see your work and writing. If you have no writing or art you can or want to share publicly, however, you can include that in a file/folder you just want to share with the mods, or email us the samples to [email protected]

Can I submit as a collaboration?
If you are an artist and writer who wants to work together, apply as an artist and writer separately, and let us know that you only want to be accepted together. If you are collaborating on a comic together, please apply together in one submission, and provide your separate contact info.

Will contributors be compensated?
Yes! More details below.

What is the compensation like for contributors?
Contributors will receive at minimum the option to receive a full bundle as compensation (merch and physical zine) or the monetary value of a bundle (estimated $50 - $100 once we have finalized page count and merch costs). After this, all profit from the zine (following all manufacturing and fulfillment costs) will be shared equally between all contributors and mods.

What are the rights for work submitted?
All contributors will retain 100% control and rights to their work, and will be allowed to sell prints/copies of their work after the zine is complete. We only ask for exclusivity until the zine has been completed and orders are shipped. If accepted you'll receive more information on this timeline and when you'll be able to share your full work/writing. :) You're also welcome and encouraged to share/publish your pieces with other zines/editorials/etc after this one, if you wish!

What is the deadline to apply?
All applications are due July 10th, 11:59pm EDT

USE OF GENERATIVE AI FOR ART AND WRITING IS PROHIBITED. NO EXCEPTIONS.

This zine is a passion project!
We set out with a goal to bring together folks to share their love of sapphic art and the joy of collaboration and queer community. This project is a labor of love, with the simple goal of sharing queer art. As such, we plan to be as transparent as possible, and will share information publicly regarding production/fulfillment costs and revenue as it becomes available.
